Inaugural City-Wide Back 2 School Bash a Huge Success

Free school supplies, backpacks, hygiene items, and many other resources were handed out to hundreds of families at the first ever City-Wide Back 2 School Bash on Friday, August 11, 2023.

The lead organizing agencies of the event were Catholic Charities-Diocese of Lubbock, Hub City Outreach Center, First Care, St. Francis Ministries, MCH, SPCAA, Amerigroup and Mahon Library. 

 

More than 50 vendors were spread out across Mahon Library to provide families with free school supplies and information about their programs.   Free haircuts were provided to students by Wade Gordon Hairdressing Academy.   Cosplay characters were also on hand to take photos with students and encourage them to do their best in the upcoming school year.  Members of the Lubbock Sheriff's Department cooked hot dogs.
